Thats how a dancing fool like Jacob Zuma is going to be the next president of our country and avoid jailtime. Undeniably Thabo Mbeki is not a man of the people, but he is the man for the people.

The decision by the ANC put everything in perspective that South Africa is a company,Thabo Mbeki is the chairman, the ANC are the board of directors, big business are the stakeholders and the people are merely the employees. Like any other company the board bases their decisions for the benefit or intrests of the board and stakeholders. In this case the chairman gets fired for beig sympathetic to the needs of the employees.

The ANC, serves the ANC and the decision was made in their best intrest and not the people. Why i wrote this note you ask? Maybe to change the status quo, we should all start giving a damn, i know that i didnt.........

Mbeki was a principled man. He set a vision and a way forward and stuck to it with aplomb. Yes, he made blunders in the process. But were these blunders worth impeachment? He couldnt have been impeached because there were no grounds for such a process, hence this barbaric route. I agree, Mbeki (the person) needed to go so that we could get fresh ideas. But was it necessary to humiliate him, bearing in mind that he was left with only six months to wind down his business in govt. I'm quite disappointed at the current subjective politics at play. What is Zuma's principled stand? What is he bringing to the table? We cant follow Zuma (the person) blindfoldedly. We needed to have known his political and economic intentions before falling for him. I have used the term 'the person' to highlight his subjective state. Where I used his name only, I referred to his stand, his principle and his vision. That is what I think we should be looking at, their objective states.

You tell people not to play media politics yet you yourself explicitly do the exact. Mbeki issued a statement about HIV/AIDS that was misrepresented by the media and in the process your fell prey as well. All he said was that we cannot attack HIV as the sole cause of AIDS. This literally meant that HIV/AIDS is a social and lifestyle pandemic that was exacerbated by the ills of our socio-economic landscape. With Poverty as a leading factor, South Africans were at a much riskier position to be infected due to unemployment, a lack of economic means to upgrade themselves and a further lack of extramural activities, amongst others. And once infected, our fellow brothers and sisters would not be able to afford medication and the necessary ancillary products to manage the disease.

Instead of looking at the object of Blue's argument, you raised a couple of race issues. My brother, the people you have stated in your argument, Wouter Basson, the Waterkloof boys, the Swartruggens boy, etc were all charged and had their day in court. Not only did they have their day in court but all charges against them were tested and they were duly convicted. Remember the South African Judiciary is independent. The question of why their sentences were lenient is valid but that should be addresses to the Judiciary. The object of the matter here is why cant one man, who has 783 charges raised against him, be prosecuted. Is it because he is a populist? He must clear his name so that we cannot have an embarrassing situation of having to defend him to the world once he is elected president.

Yes, Zuma will have advisers. Why then choose a lame duck as a president. Why not choose a competent individual who'll need minimal advisory requirements? Here is a simple definition of competency to trigger your mind. "The quality of being adequately or well qualified physically and intellectually to perform duties assigned to you without unnecessary supervision and guidance". Do you honestly think that out of 43 million people in our country, we lack a better individual? And a clean one for that matter.

Lastly, due to our political background, one must be aware that white-on-black attacks wont be eradicated completely just yet. We still have angry white boere who might still attack us from time to time. But we must fight against that with all we have. But to have black brothers humiliating a fellow brother like this is very disheartening, especially at that level. I honestly never thought it would happen so soon in our infant democracy.

But all in all, my brother, we might differ in our outlook, but that does not mean I undermine your view point. One of the few agreements that I share with you regrading the current state of affairs is that we disagree on various aspects. Much respect!!!

I'm sorry to dissappoint you, but its not that way. First you need to understand our politics, not media politics. Things will unfold as time goes on & hopefully u'll understand why. Yes we agree Mbeki studied in UK and Zuma is a practical man, If I may ask, why can't they probe or do an enquiry into the arms deal? Read a lot of Makiavelli's Theories, you'll learn that the world is not what you think it is? They say to rule Rome you needed the mob, that's why Roman laws are still used today in our courts, this proves that the mob is the country, who don't need your UK education, but a reasonable and realistic man. As a President you have advisors, whether school or no school like George W Bush Jnr, whom some of u love ,maybe is it because he is white or you need another white person to praise Zuma in the coming years, then he will be accepted. He is an idiot when he did what? Your so called intellegent Mr Mbeki, didn't understand HIV/AIDS, but nobody said anything. Zuma was wrongly charged for rape yet found not guilty, the NPA is still trying to prosecute him, but Mark Thecther, son of Margret Thatcher, u're former colonist got a R700k fine, someone who was going to cause wars that kill our brothers & sisters, the Boeremark are still on trial, what are u saying about it, Woutter Basson is a free man, because he help CIA with the HIV spreading around the continent & maybe who knows with his help it was created, yet u cry about someone whom they are not sure whether he got a cut of R500k, waist states money to prosecute him, which costs more than R500k, the problem about the so called black intellectuals is that they are trying to be white or western,but not themselves. I have been away from the cyberworld for quite a while. As we all know, a brother has to earn a living. I'm currently working hard with the SA Red Cross Society, we are trying to improve lives of fellow humans.
During my break from blogging, I read an interesting article "Chinese are BLACK" i almost fell off my chair. It goes further saying that they qualify for BEE status, funny isn't it? What should we call them? Blackanese or what?. I Guess our Cabinet is confused. talk of freedom fighters, was any of them Chinese? and what is it that we south africans owe China. Well they are good at flooding our markets with low quality goods and products. Jobs are lost due to the activities of Chinese business men, they import their fong-kongs for us instead of using locals to manufacture those goods. The idea would bring scarce jobs to our communities and lessen race related hatred. I for one don't support Asian invasion of our markets by counterfeit goods. If Chinese qualify for BEE status, what about fellow Africans we've been beating up, are they not black enough or just too dark for our slippery economy?

WOMEN AND RIGHTS VS CULTURE AND RELIGION

The case of Zimbabwean woman Venia Magaya is well-known in Southern Africa. Magaya brought a legal case contesting eviction from the house she had been living in all the way to the Supreme Court. Magaya’s half-brother forced her to leave the home she had been living in when her father passed away, and argued to the court that women could not inherit the same as men. Magaya lost. The court gave precedence to customary law over the bill of rights. They ruled that women could not be equal to men before the law because of African cultural norms and "the nature of African society," making customary law immune from the non-discrimination clause. A characteristic feature of the legal systems of all the Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries is the co-existence of customary and religious laws alongside the perceived European law. A clause that makes explicit the supremacy of constitutional rights over customary, religious or other laws in the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development being reviewed at the upcoming Heads of State Summit in August will be an important yardstick for countries to measure against in their ongoing law reform processes. The SADC Protocol Alliance, comprised of more than 16 organisations and experts from the region, is calling for the Protocol to state explicitly that where there are contradictions between customary law and Constitutional provisions for gender equality the latter is given precedence. The reality for most women in Southern Africa is that constitutional and legal provisions mean very little because in reality customary and or religious laws govern their lives. Thus, for women to have meaningful legal protection, their rights must be enshrined in laws that are not open to interpretation.
